We are a seeking an on-site Senior GIS Specialist II to support the United States Department of Defense (DOD) Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) as a subject matter expert to provide services for the collection, production, analysis, dissemination and maintenance of consistent and accurate, installation geospatial data and products, which includes both GIS and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD); in support of the installation management mission.
- Geospatial Information System (GIS) expertise.
- Act as an SDSFIE compliance and technical expert.
- Provide data, metadata, and map products through approved enterprise systems.
- Leverage and adapt commercial off the shelf (COTS) automated templates, tools, and applications to develop, discover, utilize and distribute IGI&S products.
- Perform geospatial data creation, update, and maintenance, including Common Installation Picture (CIP).
- Perform data translation.
- Perform data quality and standards compliance validation checks.
- Conduct Global Positioning System (GPS) services.
- Imagery requirements identification, and image processing.
- Conduct spatial analysis.
- Possess knowledge of CADD to GIS data conversion standards and procedures.
- Develop, produce, and distribute cartographic products (hard copy and digital formats).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of six (6) years of professional Experience performing geospatial modeling, analysis, and data manipulation.
- Experience creating, updating, and maintaining databases, attributes, maps, and graphs using GIS software and related equipment.
- Experience using Bentley’s Geospatial interoperability tools to develop / exchange data in common GIS data formats like ESRI Shapefiles or MapInfo TAB and MID/MIF; CAD formats such as DGN and DWG; XML-based exchange formats such as LandXML; or GML as the “transportation vehicle”.
- Experience analyzing spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
- Experience compiling geographic data from a variety of sources including censuses, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, tabular data, databases, and existing maps.
- Experience entering map data through use of digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
- Experience in managing and configuring data and metadata to common geospatial standards such as SDSFIE.
Education, Certifications, and Clearance:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geography or related physical or geospatial science such as Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Cartography, Information Technology, Computer Science, Urban Studies/ Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Drafting or Construction related field.
- OR a minimum of 10 years’ experience using ESRI ArcGIS.
- Secret Clearance preferred.
