GEI Consultants is seeking a full-time GIS Specialist based out of our Duluth, MN; Grand Rapids, MN; or Green Bay, WI offices. The candidate will work with a team of GIS professionals to assist in project work providing exceptional services to our clients. This position will focus on GIS analysis, data management, map production, and web GIS configuration.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Work hand in hand with internal clients and users to provide creative GIS solutions to complex project using ESRI ArcGIS platforms.
- Conduct GIS analysis using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Suite Software, ArcGIS Pro.
- Advance the development of GIS-based analysis in support of Engineering, Ecological and Environmental projects.
- Provide well crafted, web-based GIS solutions to assist field staff in projects using ESRI’s ArcGIS Online products.
- Create, process and edit GIS datasets from various formats, including non-traditional GIS formats, field data collection and data downloaded from external web services. Manage existing legacy databases.
- Provide support for cartographic design and quality control of geospatial data to ensure accuracy and company standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications
- Working towards or completion of bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography or related field with credible GIS capabilities.
- Active knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
- Experience using ArcGIS Online products
- Survey123, Field Maps, Dashboards, Hub Sites, etc.
- Excellent editing skills in GIS. Working familiarity of cartography fundamentals.
- Understanding and ability to provide standard GIS deliverables
- GDB, SHP, Feature Service, Vector, Raster, etc.
- Solid understanding of computer networks, file storage and data management best practices.
- Ability to perform quality checks on data.
- Sufficient knowledge of coordinate systems, datums, projections and transformations.
- Ability to calculate priority of tasks and manage various assignments with limited oversight.
- Experience with automating tasks, -writing queries and expressions using ModelBuilder, Python, Arcade or other common languages, a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience and familiarity with consulting engineers and scientists.
- Experience with GPS and field data collection.
- Understanding and working knowledge of LiDAR datasets.
- Experience working with KMZ file format and Google Earth.
- Experience with AutoCAD applications and DWG file format.
- Experience with UAS flights.
