GIS Specialist

This role is a mix of GIS administration, data management, and collaborative project support. You’ll work closely with our Lead GIS Developer and internal teams to ensure our systems are reliable, data is accurate, and GIS tools are user-friendly and accessible to everyone who needs them.

As a GIS Specialist at Trident Industries, you will support the development and maintenance of our ArcGIS platforms and geospatial data systems. You’ll play a hands-on role in editing datasets, supporting project tracking, and ensuring data integrity, all while helping the team get the most out of our GIS tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and update GIS datasets, including layers, fields, domains, and spatial networks, keeping everything accurate and project-ready.
• Support internal teams by answering GIS questions, troubleshooting software issues, and helping make GIS tools accessible across departments.
• Assist in reviewing and converting field updates into accurate “as-built” data, maintaining consistency between maps and the real world.
• Collaborate with the Lead GIS Developer on new feature development, data tools, and geospatial system enhancements.
• Track and monitor progress on GIS tasks, updating schedules and keeping stakeholders informed of milestones.
• Document workflows, system setups, and procedures to ensure consistency and shared knowledge.
• Explore new technologies, tools, and industry trends to enhance our GIS capabilities over time.

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of spatial data management, cartography, and geospatial best practices.
• 2+ years of experience with GIS platforms, including configuration and administration preferred. 
• Familiarity with cloud-based GIS systems and data processing tools such as FME and SQL preferred. 
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages for GIS automation or tool development preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to work across departments and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
