GIS Specialist - Orlando

GIS Specialist

Opportunity available for a GIS Specialist to join our GIS department and assist professional engineers and geologists in the water resources field. The successful respondent will work in Orlando, performing data development and analysis to support computer modeling of surface and groundwater systems, stormwater management planning, water supply development and other related studies in the water resources field.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Analyze and interpret spatial data to produce high-quality maps and reports.
• Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate data integration.
• Utilizing RTK-GPS units for data collection and mapping in various field projects is a plus.
• Perform quality control and validation of spatial data collected through RTK-GPS.
• Stay updated on the latest GIS and GPS technologies and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Strong technical knowledge of ArcGIS, geoprocessing tools, coordinate systems, database development and maintenance, ArcObjects, VB.NET and/or Python.
• Experience with geoprocessing models, 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, ArcHydro, and basic SQL for query development is desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Superior communication, technical, and organizational skills.
• Thorough understanding of coordinate geometry and algebra, capable of working with oral, written, and diagrammatic instructions.
• Ability to work mostly in an office environment, with eventual opportunities to work in field environments.

Favored Skills:

• Experience with drone technology and aerial mapping.
•  Familiarity with data processing and analysis software.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in GIS and surveying.
