The GIS Specialist IV at Cherokee Nation Systems Solutions (CNSS) in Charleston, SC, plays a crucial role in leveraging Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to enhance understanding and decision-making within specific geographic contexts. The GIS Specialist IV is responsible for extracting data from GIS software, employing diverse analysis methods, and deriving actionable insights.

GIS Specialist IV Responsibilities Include:
- Utilize GIS techniques to gain insights into various variables within a given geographic location.
- Extract and analyze data using GIS software, applying appropriate analytical methods to generate results.
- Recommend reactionary strategies based on GIS analysis outcomes to address identified challenges or opportunities.
- Provide clients with maps and data sets to supplement their analyses and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with CADD drafters and technicians to integrate GIS outputs into broader project workflows.
- Demonstrate proficiency in GIS software and technology to facilitate efficient and accurate analysis.
- Apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of GIS, leveraging experience and judgment to achieve goals.
- Undertake a variety of tasks under general supervision, exhibiting flexibility and adaptability.
- May lead and direct others, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
- Exercise creativity and latitude in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
GIS Specialist IV Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in a relevant field is required.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in GIS-related roles, preferably in a federal agency setting.
- Proficiency in GIS software and technology, with the ability to utilize various analysis methods.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract insights from complex datasets.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with clients and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under general supervision while managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Leadership experience preferred, with the ability to guide and mentor junior staff members.
- Flexibility and adaptability to evolving project requirements and deadlines.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
