Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented, energetic technology minded Geographic Information System (GIS) professional for immediate employment in AECOM’s Arlington, VA office. The GIS Specialist is a full-time AECOM employee that will report to the Associate Vice President & GIS Sr Manager in the Technology Services Group and will support our United States Marine Corps (USMC) client within the Environment Business line. This position will directly support the Marine Corps Installation Command (MCICOM) Information Technology Directorate (G-6) Division to facilitate the integration of the Installation Communication Grid (ICG) within the USMC Installation Geospatial Information & Services (IGI&S) Program, known as GEOFidelis.  The successful candidate will work both independently and in close coordination with the MCICOM G-6 and GEOFidelis Program Analysts to support ICG and GIS integration across the USMC.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Gather, review, and report on technical requirements to meet project goals and implement quality assurance procedures.
  • Develop and maintain content/applications in an Esri Portal for ArcGIS environment.
  • Conduct geospatial data collection tasks with Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD).
  • Prepare Plans of Action and Milestone (POAM) documents to successfully execute assigned work.
  • Maintain quality assurance of spatial and non-spatial data and processes as per defined standards.
  • Maintain expertise in existing and emerging GIS related software and technologies.
  • Create and maintain GIS data in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
  • Successfully integrate telecommunication management system (TMS) data with GIS.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the project manager, project team, and client stakeholders to understand and document system/solution requirements.
  • Organize, document, and communicate status updates to program leads and relevant project teams.
  • Provide excellent team leadership, critical thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in CAD, BIM, GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field + 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency and / or education.
  • Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with applications such as:

    • ArcGIS Enterprise, Pro, and Desktop Software

    • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D/AutoCAD Map

    • Experience with Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS

    • GIS experience within the telecommunications industry.

  • Comfortable working outside and/or traveling occasionally to support field activities.
  • Understanding of relational database organization, design, and functionality.
  • Ability to learn and present best practices for data management including workflows, tools, governance models, and integration patterns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE).
