Job purpose
 
The GIS Technician will be given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on customer projects at SSP Innovations. The GIS Technician will be exposed to various software programs to help them better understand those programs and outside plant (OSP) concepts. This role performs several data production functions within a project including analyzing utility maps, geometry and tabular data, sketches, field photographs, imagery, and other data sources.

Job Duties:

  • Compile, integrate, edit, and maintain spatial data from a variety of sources for inclusion in our Geographic Information System (GIS).
  • Assist with investigating and resolving mapping problems encountered.
  • Occasional involvement in project start-up and client interaction as needed.
  • Produce project specific documentation as needed.
  • Consistently exceed the productivity standards per project requirements.
  • Consistently exceed the quality standards per project requirements.
  • Travel, on a limited basis, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
 
Required Qualifications:
  • 0-1 years' experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with ESRI and other GIS software programs.
  • Knowledge of cartographic principles, standards, and terminology.
  •  Skills in editing, manipulating, and analyzing data within GIS.
  • Have working knowledge of all project tools/specifications to complete work upon completion of internal training.
  • Consistently detail oriented, organized, and quality focused.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient working knowledge with Microsoft Office.
