The City of Delray Beach is a Non-Tobacco Workplace. The purpose of this position is to assist in the development and maintenance of the City’s Water Utilities databases using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Utilizing GIS/.CADD/GPS hardware and/or software, to perform the following: collect/manage geographical data, produce various maps/reports, develop, maintain, and/or enhance database structures. Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, database, computer aided drafting (CAD), geographic information system (GIS), mapping, graphics design, or other software programs. Assists with field surveys utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment to obtain field collected data for GIS projects. Help other employees or departments as needed. This position reports to the Senior GIS Analyst.
- Associates degree in survey/mapping, engineering, geography, computer science or related field
- Bachelor's degree preferred supplemented by two years previous experience.
- Three years' experience in GIS applications is required.
- Requires demonstrated ability to utilize personal computer and office software such as MS Word, MS Excel and electronic mail.
Ability to use highly technical computer applications, such as GIS or CAD. Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcGIS Online. Ability to manage and prioritize routine, specialized and complex assignments and problems utilizing knowledge acquired through prior education, training, and experience. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to adapt to an evolving and continually improving environment.
