Contributions






We are looking for a Geospatial Data Analyst to join our team. This position focuses on data analysis for law enforcement support, requiring a combination of investigative data expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to work under high-pressure, mission-critical environments. This role will involve working with diverse data sets, ensuring accuracy and integrity while supporting ongoing criminal and civil investigations.

 

Our ideal candidate has a blend of technical acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to engage with law enforcement agencies. We are looking for more than just a "Data Analyst"—this role requires a technologist with excellent communication skills, customer service, and a passion for data and problem-solving.

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Compile, manipulate, and analyze geospatial data using GIS tools to support spatial and geographic analysis.
    • Design, develop, and maintain databases and systems for GIS data management.
    • Perform geospatial analysis and create reports, maps, applications, and visualizations to communicate results of spatial analyses.
    • Utilize scripting languages to automate and refine GIS data pipelines and processes.
    • Conduct geographic and pattern-of-life analysis, providing visual interpretations of complex data sets.
    • Monitor and assess data accuracy, integrity, and relevancy, ensuring data is ready for analysis and reporting.
    • Collaborate with team members on code reviews, focusing on the integration and automation of geospatial data workflows.
    • Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for managing geospatial data and GIS processes.
    • Participate in briefings, presenting analysis results and visualizations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.








Qualifications






 

  • Ability to hold a position of SECRET clearance level with the US government.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience exceeding degree requirements.
  • 4+ years of experience using GIS tools to analyze and interpret geospatial data (experience with ESRI ArcGIS preferred).
  • Experience using scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for automating GIS processes and refining data pipelines.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization tools for integrating and presenting geospatial data.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify spatial patterns, trends, and gaps in data for actionable insights.
  • Experience documenting processes and developing SOPs for geospatial data management and analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present geospatial analysis and visualizations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $50,000 to $115,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
